THE NAME

Gyeot (곁) means “beside.” Gyeol (결) means “grain.”

Gyeotgyeol is a pen name for an office worker who spends the day on paperwork, email and invoices, and has been handing the repetitive parts of that work to AI, one task at a time.

We write down what was automated, what stayed in human hands, and what didn’t work.

THE COMIC

Gyeol and Gyeot

A short comic about Gyeol, a tired office worker whose face we never see, and Gyeot, a small green pebble that quietly takes on the dull work and hands every decision back.

The English edition is on Instagram at @gyeot.and.gyeol. The Korean original is at @gyeot.gyeol.

FOR MAKERS & BRANDS

Working with makers

Gyeotgyeol is a small independent retailer based in Seoul, Korea, launching in early 2027. We are preparing to introduce a careful selection of handmade desk objects from European workshops — journals, leather goods and other everyday tools for the desk — to customers in Korea.

If you make things like these and are open to working with a Korean retailer, we would love to hear from you at hello@gyeotgyeol.com.
